A 56 year old patient with advanced Alzheimer’s and her husband came to PDAN for help as the co-pay for her medication was too expensive. The husband had quit his job to be her fulltime caregiver. In order to qualify her for the prescription assistance program, we submitted the application, Low Income Subsidy denial letter, letter of medical necessity and list of monthly expenses. 6 months after she was approved and started receiving the medication, the patient entered hospice care, which took over all expenses. We were able to fill the gap during a brief, yet critical time for this family.
